In recent years, the increasing presence of large-scale, world-class factories from numerous brands in Vietnam’s industrial zones has not only contributed to solving the employment problem for thousands of workers but also significantly boosted the country’s industrial development, expanded cooperation with foreign businesses, and brought Vietnam closer to developed nations.
Grasping the Vietnamese market with its undeniable advantages, the President of Clark Material Handling shared in an interview that the company’s forklifts are now fully manufactured and assembled right in Vietnam, making them an excellent choice for Vietnamese people.
How did Clark’s journey in Vietnam begin, sir?
Clark first arrived in Vietnam in 2018 with 3 ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified factories in Hai Duong. Factory 1 assembles finished forklifts, while factories 2 and 3 produce the main components of forklifts, namely masts and frames. To increase localization, we are continuously expanding our cooperation with domestic suppliers and joint ventures.
In addition, Clark – the first forklift manufacturing and assembly company in Vietnam – also shares many patents with other forklift brands, helping relevant organizations effectively apply international regulations for forklift equipment as Vietnamese standards.
Why did CLARK choose Vietnam to establish a factory?
Clark’s parent company, Youngan Hat, first came to Vietnam to build a factory with a commercial bus brand called Daewoo Bus. We at CLARK appreciate the hard work and diligence of Vietnamese people, with their unique thinking and ideas, which played a vital role in establishing a global manufacturing base for Clark.
Since our first factory was established in 2018, we have consistently produced up to 3,000 high-quality forklifts annually, all thanks to the dedicated and skilled Vietnamese workforce.
Many companies come to Vietnam simply because of cheap labor. Does Clark have any different reasons, sir?
From the very beginning when it was chosen as the global manufacturing base, the Clark factory in Vietnam has not only been an assembly plant but has also been selected as a supplier of standard components to cooperate with large enterprises. Notably, the presence of the global R&D institute in Vietnam is a clear indication that Clark sees Vietnam as more than just a simple manufacturing base. To become a comprehensive research institute, we operate testing equipment by conducting vehicle tests.
By investing heavily in training and developing our global workforce in Vietnam, we are confident that Clark forklifts, designed and manufactured entirely by Vietnamese people, will not only dominate the domestic market but also expand into the international market.
What are the technological differences between Clark forklifts and other brands, and how do these benefits translate to Vietnamese consumers?
I believe Clark has three significant advantages.
Firstly, the global R&D institute operating in Vietnam aims to develop optimal equipment suitable for the domestic market. Most forklifts are developed in other countries and imported into Vietnam. Clark has a system that can perfectly meet the local environment in Vietnam.
Secondly, Clark forklifts are manufactured by Vietnamese people. With a strong focus on training, Clark has cultivated a workforce with highly skilled hands. This is what sets us apart from other brands. Our products are made in Vietnam with global quality standards but at a Vietnamese price.
Thirdly, we do not simply rely on a dealer network to sell our products. Clark Vietnam also focuses on after-sales service and takes full responsibility for all equipment sold. Both Korean and Vietnamese staff work together, from sales to after-sales service. We, at Clark Vietnam, confidently say: “Clark forklifts are an excellent choice.”
Clark aims to lead the industrial vehicle industry and collaborate with customers to build a cluster of research and manufacturing companies.
The COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges to the economy. We understand these difficulties and would like to express our support by offering a special promotion for Vietnamese customers until the end of October.
Thank you!
